Joanne Horner M.S.W.
Joanne Horner joined the staff of CPCC in February 2005 and brings a much needed perspective on working with children, teens and their families.
Education, training and experience:
Joanne Horner is a Mental Health Counselor specializing in work with children and teens and their families. She has a Masters in Social Work from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA with an emphasis in Children, Youth, and Families and is a Washington State certified School Social Worker, Cert #407381C. She received a BA in Psychology with a Minor in Religion from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. Joanne has been doing social work since 1999. Her experience includes work with children who have been neglected and abused, assessment and therapy children and teens who have displayed sexually inappropriate behavior, and working with children in a school setting. She is registered as provided by law with the Division of Professional Licensing, State of Washington as a Registered Counselor, License #RC00050019.
Theoretical orientation and approach to counseling
Joanne has worked with children and their families since 1999. She comes from a family systems approach believing working with the whole family is important in helping young people. Joanne uses a variety of approaches including cognitive, behavioral, systems, Rogerian, and family systems.
